I use several different techniques to prevent cross-pollination, depending on the situation (time-staggered planting, clothes-pinning, Silk Sacks, etc.)

Just a Poppy Loving Hippy –
They know what they’re doing!! 5**** STARS
I know someone who tried planting 10 trays of seeds, but didn’t realize that Plastic Coverings can increase the Temps to WAY above what Poppies like (at the time & place they planted them). Only use the Covers if your Climate reaches below Freezing during the Nights.
Otherwise, follow their other methods mentioned in their Blog for Warmer Planting (Use of Netting, or fine white fabric (to keep the birds out).
Birds have ruined my efforts for my first 2 years. It took me until my 4th Season to FINALLY realize what I was doing wrong. Thanks to the Tutorials in OB’s BLOG
